TOKYO, JAPAN — Oct. 18, 2022 — Rapyuta Robotics, Co., Ltd., a leading developer of collaborative pick-assist robots (Rapyuta PA-AMR), or warehouse robots, and pioneers of cloud robotics, today announced that it has been selected by Microsoft for the Startups Founders Hub, a startup support program offered by Microsoft Corporation.

Rapyuta Robotics will receive technical support from Microsoft to further expand the functionality and convenience of their raputa.io software platform. Through this collaboration, Microsoft and Rapyuta Robotics aim to build cutting-edge robotic services to meet rapidly escalating industrial and manufacturing needs due to global labor shortages.

“Rapyuta Robotics will further its mission to make robots more attainable to global logistics users and to empower lives with new cloud robotics solutions,“ said Gajan Mohanarajah, Ph.D., CEO, and co-founder. “We are grateful to Microsoft for supporting our vision to expand the state-of-the-art rapyuta.io platform that allows users to create, deliver, monitor, and scale any robotics application from anywhere in the world.”

The two companies will strengthen their collaboration in these areas:

  • Technical support: extend support and collaboration, including cloud infrastructure and AI know-how, with assistance from Microsoft’s U.S. headquarters.
  • New customer development: increase outreach to customers who need robotics services utilizing Microsoft’s network.
  • Expansion into overseas markets: support and implement business matching and promotion with overseas software and hardware developers, robot integrators, and end users by leveraging Microsoft’s global resources.

Forbes estimated that there will be a labor shortage of 2.4mm workers by 2028. Further, the service robotics market is expected to expand to USD$173.17 Billion in 2030, globally, at 21.25% CAGR, according to Verified Market Research.
