Rapyuta Robotics Co., Ltd. (“Rapyuta Robotics”) (Chuo-Ku, Tokyo, CEO: Gajan Mohanarajah) which offers rapyuta.io, the world’s first cloud robotics platform, has established a business partnership and raised funding from Yaskawa Electric Corporation (“Yaskawa”) (Kitakyushu, Fukuoka: Representative Director and President: Hiroshi Ogasawara), a global leader in industrial robots and motion control.

This partnership aims to increase the number of cloud-connected robots as well as add further value to multi-robot solutions by combining Yaskawa’s deep expertise in the field of industrial robots, with the cloud robotics services of Rapyuta Robotics.

Given the growing demand for robotics solutions, the usage and importance of ROS (Robot Operating System) compatible robots are growing rapidly. While traditional robot solutions were mainly built for single robots performing singular tasks, maximizing operation and labor efficiency requires robust multi-robot solutions. Rapyuta Robotics has been offering robot development & operations infrastructure for enterprises, with a focus on multi-robot coordination AI. Through the partnership with Yaskawa, Rapyuta Robotics aims to expand the lineup of its flexible and scalable solutions.

In addition, Rapyuta Robotics is aiming to build an open & global ecosystem. The partnership with Yaskawa fosters open innovation. In the past, industrial robots have been meant for large corporations or factory automation purposes. However, we believe the partnership opens up flexible & scalable solutions to a wider range of companies including small-mid sized companies with limited resources.

More specifically, there are plans to develop multi robot solutions with different types of robots including AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robot) and robot arms for factory and warehouse settings.

Rapyuta Robotics Co., Ltd. is a global technology company that provides scalable, cloud-based automation solutions. Our cloud robotics platform “rapyuta.io” enables large enterprises to centrally manage different kinds of robots and sensors, without having to control them individually. A university spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), we are using state-of-the-art controls research and AI technology to build Japan’s next-generation cloud robotics platform.
