TOKYO, JAPAN ー Apr. 18, 2023, ー
Rapyuta Robotics, Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce that we received the Commissioner of the Patent Office Prize at the Intellectual Property Merit Awards in 2023.

■ The Intellectual Property Merit Awards
Every year, the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) presents the ‘Award for Merits Related to the Intellectual Property Rights Regime’ to individuals who have contributed to the development, dissemination, and awareness of the intellectual property rights regime.
The JPO also presents the METI award and the commissioner of the patent office prize as the “award for excellence in the use of the intellectual property rights scheme” to companies and other organizations that have made effective use of the system and contributed to its smooth operation and development.
Both awards are collectively referred to as the ‘Intellectual Property Merit Awards’.

■ Remarks from Gajan Mohanarajah, Co-founder and CEO
We are honored to receive the “Commissioner of the Patent Office Prize” for Intellectual Property Merit Award. With the vision of “making robotics attainable & useful for anyone”, we have developed the platform “rapyuta.io”, which is vital for the promotion of robotics and how we provide solutions.

Our general policy is to pursue an IP strategy that emphasizes quality over quantity and defense over offense. We focus on obtaining patent rights for group control technology, which is one of our strengths. We actively apply for patents in technologies where third-party infringement is detectable and we take measures against patent trolls by participating in the LOT network. In addition, technologies for which infringement by third parties cannot be detected are kept secret as know-how and information is thoroughly managed within the company.

We are looking to expand our business globally, pioneering our entry into the US, and have formulated a strategy for intellectual property rights both domestically and internationally. We will continue to work on development with intellectual property at the core and contribute to solving social issues.
