The collaboration between the two ETH Zurich spin-offs aims to yield the next generation of autonomous mobile robots based on visual SLAM and cloud robotics

Tokyo, Japan (July 26, 2022). Rapyuta Robotics, Ltd., a leading developer of collaborative pick-assist robots (Rapyuta PA-AMR) and pioneers of cloud robotics, and Sevensense Robotics, a leader in industrial-grade 3D Visual SLAM localization and navigation solutions for autonomous service machines, announce a partnership to offer the best-in-class localization, navigation, coordination, and management options for the next generation of autonomous mobile robots.

The companies joined forces in response to increasing demands in industrial and logistic automation for advanced localization and navigation solutions and streamlined orchestration of vehicle fleets. AI-based Visual SLAM algorithms power Sevensense Robotics’ product line Alphasense, addressing localization and navigation challenges. Rapyuta Robotics’ rapyuta.io cloud platform provides the software and tooling to develop and operate multi-robot solutions.

Rapyuta Robotics is an innovation leader in cloud robotics,“ said Gregory Hitz, CEO of Sevensense Robotics. “We are excited to collaborate with them with the goal that the next generation of mobile robots benefits from the power of Visual SLAM joined with the strength and flexibility of rapyuta.io.”
“Sevensense has succeeded in embedding its complex AI algorithms in a product line that is simple to use and fast to install on all kinds of robots,” said Gajamohan Mohanarajah, CEO and co-founder of Rapyuta Robotics. “This makes it easy to test its advanced features, integrate them on a vehicle, and deploy them to the end user. We hope our partnership will help revolutionize speed-to-market solutions for logistics companies.“

Sevensense’s algorithms allow for 3D maps of unknown environments with the help of advanced computer vision and AI algorithms. Such maps are more accurate and robust than current 2D maps obtained with conventional laser scanners. They enable more intelligent, flexible, and efficient navigation of mobile robots in warehouses, distribution centers, and other dynamic spaces.

Rapyuta’s next-generation cloud robotics platform, rapyuta.io, utilizes the world’s most advanced control and artificial intelligence technologies to build and operate highly flexible multi-robot systems.

About Rapyuta Robotics
Rapyuta Robotics was founded in 2014 in Tokyo, Japan, and has raised a total of USD 81 Million (JPY 10 Billion). It enables industrial automation with its Pick Assist mobile robot (PA-AMR) and cloud platform rapyuta.io. The latter connects and coordinates an entire fleet of mobile robots. At ETH Zurich, Rapyuta Robotics’ founding members worked on the RoboEarth and Cubli projects.
